5. SUPPLEMENT: Turmeric

Turmeric is a yellow colored spice that is used to add taste to our food. Besides giving taste to food it also has many health benefits and healing properties. It is used as a medicinal herb and has been used in Ayurvedic treatments since ages. It prevents cancer, relieves arthritis, controls diabetes, reduces cholesterol level and plays an important role in preventing the formation of brain plaques which is associated with Alzheimer’s disease. The reason why India has a very less number of people having dementia is that they use turmeric in their food.

Dosage: 500 mg of standardized extract 2 or 3 times in a day.

6. SUPPLEMENT: Fish Oil

Omega-3s in fish oil are very essential for our body. Fish oil helps us in lowering the blood pressure, slowing down the development of plaque in arteries and reducing the chance of abnormal heart rhythm. A new research shows that omega 3 fish oil may also prevent unhealthy fats from disturbing the formation of brain cells.

Dosage: 2-3 g of molecularly distilled fish oil once a day.

  1. Thank you for this very useful information. I am T2 diabetic and often have problem with energy. Sometimes I am so tired that I found it difficult to do things. I am 55 this year. What advice can you give in this direction?

  2. Where are the references for all these claims? And, isn’t calcium from greens, milk much better absorbed than calcium citrate?

    The latest consensus is that glucosamine/chondroitin do not help, in double-blind studies.

    Also, why is nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene not mentioned?

    Sorry to quench your fire but you really need references to support your claims. Not that these supplements aren’t helpful (glucosamine/chondroitin being questionable) there are many more that are more important to longevity than those listed here.
