Weak Bones
9. SUPPLEMENTS: Vitamin D and calcium
We all know how important calcium is, for our bones that are composed mainly of calcium. Deficiency of calcium can lead to weak bones and can cause a lot of problems. If you are not suffering with osteoporosis, you can get the recommended dose of calcium for your body, by eating foods that are high in calcium.
These foods include milk (and other good quality dairy products), fortified foods and dark green vegetables. But, to absorb all this calcium, your body needs vitamin D too.
There are vitamin D supplements that you can take for this purpose. Also, if you cannot consume the recommended amount of calcium through diet, you can take calcium citrate supplements as well.
Dosage: 2,000 IU of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and 500-700 mg of calcium citrate every day; must be in distributed doses.
I’ll take a large amount of vitamins bodybuilding pills I’m 77 and I feel great
Thank you for this very useful information. I am T2 diabetic and often have problem with energy. Sometimes I am so tired that I found it difficult to do things. I am 55 this year. What advice can you give in this direction?
Where are the references for all these claims? And, isn’t calcium from greens, milk much better absorbed than calcium citrate?
The latest consensus is that glucosamine/chondroitin do not help, in double-blind studies.
Also, why is nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene not mentioned?
Sorry to quench your fire but you really need references to support your claims. Not that these supplements aren’t helpful (glucosamine/chondroitin being questionable) there are many more that are more important to longevity than those listed here.
Yes,I like this but now I am 55 please tell me about some vitamins
